Calblanque
Weather: Sky 1/8 cloud, wind SE F1, temp. 15ºC.
11:00 – 13:15.
I decided
to have a look at the Salinas in Calblanque, to
read ring numbers on the Audouin’s gulls, and have a walk round the back of the
Salinas to see
if there were any migrants about. I
spent ¾ of an hour checking out the gulls, and then walked the fence at the
back of the Salinas,
which at times has turned up some decent birds.
On this occasion the best bird was a Wryneck, seen briefly on the fence
before it flew over to the fossil sand dunes and was lost to view. The only
other thing of note was the number of Songthrushes (37) along the fence. There had obviously been a fall of these.
