Calblanque, Los Belones (ringing)
Weather: Sky clear, wind NE F0-1; temp. 10 - 15ºC.  07:45 – 10:45.

The weekends ringing had been brought forward due to the weather forcast for the weekend (windy), and I went down to the ringing site for a few hours before work.  The first net round had been done, and there was a surprise bird in the form of a Willow Warbler (the first I’ve seen this year).  Although the ringing site didn’t give the impression of there being many birds about, (the total caught during the morning was a little better than on Sunday morning) we were entertained by a pair of Booted Eagles displaying, and the sight of a female Ortolan Bunting on the top of a small pine tree for about 30 seconds.
I had to leave to go to work at about 10-45, and on the way out saw a superb male Subalpine Warbler in some gorse, of which I managed to get a record shot.

One of the mornings catures, a male Chaffinch

And another, the first Willow Warbler I'd seen this year

On the way out from Calblanque, I came across this fine male Subalpine Warbler
